SPEND the summer with the stars when the Tasmanian Outdoor Cinema comes to Latrobe.
The cinema will be hosting its first screening at Shearwater on December 30.
Currently, the cinema
screens every second Friday at Bell’s Pde, but owner Shaun Inglis said he wanted to branch out into the Shearwater market.
''We’ve been given a year (by the council) to try this out,’’ he said.
''So we thought we should try every option and every market.’’
Mr Inglis said the idea of having a Tasmanian outdoor cinema came to him while he was living in Queensland.
''They have them there all the time and I thought it
would be a good idea.’’
Mr Inglis said although the climate was warmer in Brisbane he didn’t think Tasmania’s cooler temperatures affected numbers.
''Tasmanians are really resilient,’’ he said.
The cinema has been running at Latrobe since October and Mr Inglis said he had been seeing steady numbers.
Movies generally start from about 8.30pm, but it depends on the light.
Tasmanian Outdoor Cinemas will be showing at Shearwater Park on December 30. Drinks and refreshments are available to purchase. Tickets are $10
adults, $7.50 children and $25 family. For more information contact Shaun Inglis on 0427 264 037.
